Monferrato Astigiano wine area is an area with an average warm temperature. The hills are wide and not very steep. The most famous and characteristic grape of Monferrato Astigiano is certainly Barbera. Which finds one of its greatest expressions here, after Giacomo Bologna introduced the maturation of the grapes in barrique, giving Barbera a prominent place among the important Italian wines.
Among the other native red grapes of this area, Grignolino and Ruchè are certainly worth mentioning. As far as white grapes are concerned, the most famous vine is certainly the Moscato Bianco di Canelli. The Basso Monferrato, or Monferrato Casalese is an area strongly linked to wine production. As demonstrated by the rows that follow the profile of the hills, which do not reach heights higher than 400 metres.
